Communicating Avoids Commercial Cleaning Mistakes

Commercial custodial services and their clients need to keep the lines of communication open to avoid issues like the one recently experienced by a New York university. A freezer in the research lab at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was storing cell cultures that needed to be at -112° F. A member of their cleaning service shut off a circuit breaker and the temperature reportedly rose to -25.6° F, damaging or destroying all of its contents.

We think this is an important example of why communicating with your custodial service is essential. Someone in the research lab had put a sign on the door. But, reports don’t indicate that it was ever discussed with the management of their service so they could review it with their employees and train them appropriately.

At Cross Town Cleaning, we make consistent communication part of our standard process. We regularly schedule walk-throughs with each of our clients to make sure all of their needs are being satisfied and to address any special requests they have. Check out the Commercial Cleaning page on crosstowncleaning.com for more information about our processes and all of our cleaning and sanitizing services.
